Questions About Deleting Competitors From Projects
As announced in September 2025, we've made it easier for you to modify competitors within your Projects. Since then, we've received numerous queries from our customers about the best way to utilize this new functionality. We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions below for your reference.
Question 1: You mentioned that "when removing competitor sites, all data will be deleted," but does that mean generated article data will also be deleted?
Answer 1: No. Generated article data remains in the MY Articles list. Only the competitors and ranking data are deleted.
Question 2: Is it better to maintain long-term registration for competitors?
Answer 2: We retain collected data internally, so changes are typically not necessary unless there's a compelling reason. Although exceptions can arise if a competitor goes out fo business or a more attractive one emerges, upgrading to a plan that allows adding more competitors might be a better option. The Market Position Tracker feature enables tracking keyword ranking trends over time for your and your competitor's positions, making it more useful to keep competitors registered for an extended period.
Question 3: Are there benefits to registering and deregistering various competitors within a short timeframe? Are there any penalties for repeatedly adding and removing competitors?
Answer 3: There are no penalties when you repeatedly remove competitors from your Projects. This feature can be useful if you want to observe the performance of other companies, but keep in mind that the actual data obtained may vary depending on the competitor. However, once you remove competitors, this will result in data loss, which can also be a drawback.
Question 4: I understand that when we re-registering the same competitor which we deleted previously, all previous data is lost. Is there any difference to the new data when we re-register the competitor again?
Answer 4: There is hardly any difference in the keywords outputted by re-registration, although some data might have changed over time.
Question 5: Does re-registering the same competitor site affect the quality of keyword selection?
Answer 5: The quality does not change, other than changes which might happen over time.
